Dadanaut’s album, Brimborium, is a true anthem for aw that’s unnecessar. Composed wi a wee cheeky smile, the thocht aye floated in the background: „Why no? Naebody’s gonnae listen.“

Schnickschnack

The tracks are fu o playful tunes an’ a wee bit o’ over-the-top drama, as if wantin’ tae tak’ the listener in a sea o’ unimportant noise.

But aye, it’s juist in this nonsense that the charm lies – whit would life be wi’oot a bit o’ Brimborium?

The album’s an ode tae the joy o’ creatin’, wi’oot the burden o’ success. A’ the fuss, a’ the din – an’ yet, it stays the same.

It was created entirely in Bitwig (well, not entirely: one song in Logic and another in Reaper, which is my newest DAW), with many instruments and effects from u-he, AudioThing and TAL, on Tuxedo OS.

That’s all because Reaper, Bitwig, TAL, u-he and Audiothing build their stuff for all three major platforms: Linux, Windows and Apple.

That gives you a lot of freedom!

And Tuxedo builds really great computers on which various Linux derivatives can be pre-installed on request.

Die Stadt Brimborium

The whole world’s talking. But nobody’s saying a thing.

Brimborium

Never work for other people. Always remember that the reason you initially started working was that there was something inside yourself that you felt that if you could manifest it in some way you would understand more about yourself and how you co-exists with the rest of society. I think it’s terribly dangerous for an artist to fulfill other people’s expectations.
